ENGINE & TRANSMISSION:
Built with the early traditional V8 Bentley 6230cc V8 engine mated to an automatic transmission producing an "adequate" Bhp figure. Our workshop has had her started & reports that the engine runs well & sounds wonderful. Viewing the serivce history file, there was a large amount of mechanical work carried out to the engine circa 4,000 miles ago costing in excess of £5,300 by a respected RR & Bentley specialists & is currently displaying 65k miles.
This T1 was originally supplied by 'Mead of Maidenhead Ltd' in June 1968. Thanks to some careful reaserch by a previous keeper, we can share that the vehicle was owned by Sir James Collins - a Scottish land owner - and was used to chauffeur him to London & back. In 1986 she was purchased by a sucsessful Yorkshire business man & kept for four years before being stored for the next four years. It was then purchased by a Mr Surjeet Khela who was the owner of the 'Bon Marche' fashion chain. Mr Khela had the Bentley thoughly inspected & worked on by a highy respected RR & Bentley specialist in Yorkshire. There was an extensive programe of works to the tune of over £5,000 to bring the car into A1 order. Sadly the gentleman never used the T1 & she was garaged at his Yorkshire mansion until a Mr Bamforth aquired her in 1999 with the intention of displaying his new pride & joy at various shows & events. Alas, this never happened & was then offered for sale where Mr Rimer
took ownership in 2001.
This gentleman who has owned many RR & Bentley motor cars & is now slowly disbanding his private collection. The car was sparingly used between 2001 & 2004 when she was placed into storage covering just a few thousand miles.
The serivce history file includes all ownership details & research, current V5c registraion document, previous registration papers, previous MoT certificates & tax discs, specialists engine overhaul invoice (£5,300), various parts invoices & extracts from the Rolls Royce & Bentley archives
Early un-restored examples of the T1 are getting virtually impossible to find as marque enthusiasts realise the rarity of just 1700 examples produced. Optioned in a stunning period colour scheme, she will continue to rise in appreciation
